I started playing Skyrim last night. The villagers got all pissy with me when I set their dog on fire. The nerve of some people right? I'm starting to think the people in that game just don't know how to have a good time.
Kill some time, play my game Hop Cheops[^]
I'm at that awkward point where my level 25 sneaker/thief/archer can work through most caves/dungeons/areas/keeps/castles without too much trouble only to get completely slaughtered by the boss/bosses/last room. I need to update my sword and blocking skills for the face to face stuff because I'm just not causing enough damage and being only in light armour I've met things/people that took me out with two hits. Have got about 4 dragons down though :)

Have they removed the auto leveling of all creatures to your current level? Because if this “future” is still there I’m not buying it.

According the Good Game Review[^], that is one of the things they have changed.
Good Game - Bajo
There are heaps of improvements over Oblivion. Many people disliked the monster scaling system in the last game - the way enemies you faced in the game were always scaled to be close to your level. In Skyrim, it's more like Fallout 3. You can now come across an enemy that's just too high level for you; so you'll need to pause and potion up like crazy, or just flee for your life. I like getting hit with a tough battle now and then Hex..

They also have added mandatory features. Like Steam, for example, which was hacked right in time for the release of Skyrim. I did not expect to be proven right that quickly, but at least it was a good reminder why I keep my (typo!) sfingers off anything that requires me to register at some place and leave a nice trail of data for the hackers.
And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"And I smiled and was happy
And it came worse. -

I hate that gameplay concept too. If you want a good, hardcore RPG, I strongly recommend Risen. (The PC version).

+5 ;P Maybe the game will have that in a bonus level or something.

Light the chickens on fire and see how that goes :-D Also, don't forget if you want to steal something be sure to put a bucket on everyone's head...
------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.. but it ROCKS absolutely, too.

Probably I’ll give it a try if it’s heavily discounted and after I finish Witcher 2. I can’t open wiki from work but IIRC from the reviews this is a reshaped Gothic 2 from Piranha Bites after they lost the Gothic franchise because of the dull Gothic 3?

Exactly. I have a retail copy, but I know it has been on sale before on Steam, so most likely it will be again. Keep an eye for it during the holiday sale. The Witcher 2 is on my whislist, BTW. I don't think it will run that great on my machine so I haven't jump on it on launch day. I loved the first one though. I even read the book that started it all and I often listen to The Witcher OST while coding.

If I’m not wrong it was more a short story rather than book from a Polish author and I liked it a lot. I haven’t played the first Witcher but the second one is more than okay. A little too challenging on moments but you are able to lower the difficulty at any moment. Also some quests are difficulty to follow without a game walkthrough and yes, the graphics are amazing, the better I’ve ever seen in a game so far. All in all not as good as Gothic 2 but definitely better than any other RPG I’ve played (but I haven’t played the new Oblivion yet).

There's a short story collection,The Last Wish[^]. The first one is called The Witcher, but all of them are centered arounf Geralt. Also a series of novels, but only the first one has so far been translated in English (Blood Of The Elves). If you want to buy the original game, I recommend GOG.com[^]. Cheaper than Steam and DRM free. GOG is owned by CD Project, the same guys that created the 2 Witcher games.

Learn conjuration. Atronachs make great diversions. So does Lydia. And she doesn't give you away while you're sneaking.
