Would you pay $450 for a simple phone that can only make calls? And you can actually make calls from an iPod Touch over WiFi using Skype.

If you install the Skype app for iPod, then you can make calls over wifi.

10 bucks for the GSM/GPRS/3G, 440 for the "iPhone" coolness factor.

Having used an iPhone 3G for 2+ years and now a WP7 for 1+ years, I'd say a WP7 is equal to or even better than an iPhone in terms of usability (although it's not as fashionable). So if you are looking for a new phone, you should at least consider a WP7 phone.

If you are just realising that then I have a great bridge I would like to sell you. Mate when you can't get a new battery without replacing the entire phone it should be bloody obvious you are being ripped off. Talk about built in obsolescence.

I may actually consider that. For one, I imagine it would be easier for me to develop apps on a WP7 phone. Do you happen to know if there is a WP7 phone with: email, video camera, Facebook, Bank of America app, Pandora, web browser, TODO list or notes, maps, 3G/wifi/bluetooth connectivity, a touch screen, and a US carrier with a decent data plan? I'd say those are my most used features.

Not sure about replacing one yourself, but I think that voids the warranty and I'm not sure if you can actually buy a replacement. It costs something like $70 to send it to Apple for them to put in a new battery.

Nish, do you know if there is a decent GPS app (tom tom) for the WP7, most of them seem to be for the fanboys only.

The unsubsidized 32GB iPhone 4S costs $750, but the 32GB iPod Touch (can't be subsidized) costs $300. So, you're paying $450 for a phone without any extra features? :wtf: Is it just me, or is Apple royally screwing us? :((

the new iPhone has better features than iPod touch, but no where near $450's worth, so yes, you're being screwed - "consumer" rhymes with "loser" ;)

You have an option of not buying their stuff, like many others.

No, but I can imagine paying $450 for the convenience of not having to carry around TWO gadgets...

Not to mention the convenience of two gadgets failing on you when something goes wrong with it.

The unsubsidized 32GB iPhone 4S costs $750, but the 32GB iPod Touch (can't be subsidized) costs $300. So, you're paying $450 for a phone without any extra features? :wtf: Is it just me, or is Apple royally screwing us? :((

you don't need to buy it. Apple has set up this offer. You can accept it or reject it.
