People are entitled to their own opinions, it doesn't necessarily make them a troll. If you want to write an article that shows a new idea, or tackles a problem from a different angle, or is even just a better example of information that is already available then you should go ahead. The only time you have to start to think more about what your posting is when you start to get more low votes than high, in which case people usually provide some constructive criticism.

Hi and thanks for your opinion about the topic. My issue is that there wasn't really a constructive criticism in the comment I received. Or am I just being a nit-picker? (ponders)

Hi ppl, I am relatively new to the community regarding posting articles, and just recently I have started writing articles about Delphi. My question is, what makes a "troll". In my article Inherit me this... Inherit me that....[^], I received a comment and a downgrade on said article because it appeared to be a "101" article, because apparently the concepts I bring out are "floating about". If so, based on that (I believe biased view), then what does CP actually stand for? Am I wrong in thinking that sometimes our articles are just that? Placements of words and ideas that people think are available "everywhere"? Should I continue writing articles despite the fact? [I know I will continue writing articles here], but that particular comment really disheartened me.) Am I going mad? Is that comment made by a person who (to me) is just a troll or is he/she/it voicing many other peoples opinions?

It shouldn't... I agree... But we are human (I hope)... However things that people say, whether intentional or not, do end up affecting us whether we like to admit it or not. Either way, that is not going to stop me from writing more articles :).

I don't know enough about Delphi to comment on the actual article in question, let alone vote (read: "anything about Delphi") but there is a place for beginner-friendly articles here. You will always get a mix of pro- and con- opinions here, on everything. Don't take down votes seriously - that leads to an unhealthy obsession with Rep Points which leads to poorer quality (but more quantity, so higher points) output generally. The only time to take them seriously is if you get a lot of them, on the same theme / article and from high-rep people. Then it means something - usually that your output has been poor or contentious. Ignore it - and keep on producing the best quality you can. :-D

Surprisingly, I don't really care about rep points - I try to ignore them when I can, though it is harder these days, what with them showing in the top left and the "score board" in Q&A.

I'm actually not cared about the points scenario... It is more to do with being constructive in comments relating to articles... I probably should have mentioned that when I made the first post :P...

is missing some letters. Don't use abbreviations or you will upset some on CodeProject, but I won't say who. :) I am still learning to put apostrophe's in the correct place, but I am not very good at it.
