Here is the contents of a spam I just got... Lonesome? Bored? Just want to talk? Guys, give our friendly ladies a call ! 1-800- 463- CUMM We'll talk with you about anything you want! * Love * Sex * Romance * Dating * What Women Really Want In Man * Or heck, we can just talk about nothing! Talk to us LIVE! No credit cards needed! Just pick up the phone. Shy? Then sit back and listen in on live, (sexy) conversations with other callers. As low As $1.99/minute Visa/Mastercard required As well as the anomaly I have put in bold, I notice that if you're too shy to talk you can listen in on other people. Does that mean if you want to talk, you're sufficiently unshy that you're happy to be listened on ? While I can't imagine getting off on this sort of thing anyhow, the idea that some 12 year old who stole daddies card and has to just listen because his voice has not yet broken is listening to me talk dirty would destroy any chance I had of getting into it, I reckon. Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002
C# will attract all comers, where VB is for IT Journalists and managers - Michael P Butler 05-12-2002
Again, you can screw up a C/C++ program just as easily as a VB program. OK, maybe not as easily, but it's certainly doable. - Jamie Nordmeyer - 15-Nov-2002

There you go again Christian, over analysing everything. If someone is pathetic enough to pay someone to talk to them while they toss off they not only won't be thinking any of the stuff you mentioned they won't have the mental capacity to do so. At USD$1.99 per minute they wouldn't have to talk for long before they have spent more money than a prostitute costs and then they have perform the act themselves. That is something I have never understood about the sexlines. Even phoning in for an "escort" to come around is probably too much for people who use sexlines. The second is that some people probably see the sexline as not being as morally unsound as engaging in the physical act. i.e. A husband may argue to his wife "it was just talking on a phone, no penetration or anything." Frankly IMO this is daft thinking, it is just as damned. So how is the new job coming along?

I'm surprised that these premium rate lines can still make a profit with the availability of similar (free) services that you can find via the internet. I remember when netmeeting first came out and I was evaluating it for potential customer use. I had a very non-work-friendly cam link sent to me when I was testing it. Caused much amusement amongst my colleagues +for weeks afterwards, it did :-O Debbie

Paul Watson wrote: So how is the new job coming along? Please note that despite the next three paragraphs I am trying to be positive in my outlook and what I can achieve here. Read the paragraphs following to see what I mean. We are running Windows NT 4 Workstation on AMD K6 200MHz computers with 32MB of RAM. I have the full Dreamweaver MX collection on one of these machines (really I do). Back in October 64MB more RAM and CoolEdit Pro 2000 were ordered and are still not here. We have no CD-RW to burn edited audio on to CD for radio play and no tape recorder for recording interviews though we do have the line in cable ready to use on one. My clients (people on the dole) have little interest in computers and none what so ever in doing web pages. The WFtD program is to produce a radio program for a community based radio station. I'm not sure if the Web pages were originally on the program or were hastily added to give me something computer related. The people I work with have lukewarm IQ's, revel in bureaucracy and live on paperwork by the ton. On top of that it is as boring as bat shit. I am not looking to move on for at least 6 months and really want to stick out for 12 since my work history was 14 years 10 months continuous employment followed by 1 year 1 month out of work. I just think that job hoping so early into my first post-dole job would look bad and the market still sucks so any job is a good job. I am getting industry (not computer specific) recognised certificates. I have passed most of a Category 4 Workplace Trainer and Assessor course which means I am qualified to deliver training in anything I have done. I will soon get my Senior First Aid certificate and in a couple of months my Supervisors and Line Managers Occupational Health and Safety card. All of which are good for building sites through to big business in offices. Soon I will be having a meeting with a friend of an old school friend who works in the IT department of a local TAFE (Technical And Further Education, used to be called Technical Colleges, I think they are much like Community Colleges in the US though they can only hand out certificates and diplomas but not degrees). They give RPL (recognition of Prior Learning) and with 12 years in the trenches 7 of 12 semesters completed of a degree I should get a couple of certificates given to me and then some night work lecturing at TAFE at $48.00 an hour which I don't mind. I also plan to restart my degree second seme

Personally never understood the point of this sort of thing - assuming that they are normally populated by people who are erm....'without', then what is the point - would a person who was starving phone up a restaurant and get them to read the menu to them?
