Started Monday with the live push for the new Great Plains(or should I say Great Pains) upgrade. This was predated b setting up a new server blah blah.. Our old version of GP was so old that it would not directly upgrade... thanks MS... Anyways, its done, payroll has been run people are all happy with their new workstations(had to upgrade them too), the new sql server housing GP is smokin fast and everybody is happy. Except me, who hasn't slept much since Saturday. I'm leaving early today and they can kiss mine if they don't like it.. Tad proud of myself though since as some of you might be bothered to remember I have been in this field for exactly one year this month and have been the IT Manager for just over 1 month. WOOT!! I didn't screw it up and get to keep my new job/position :-D (for now at least)

Let's face it, after Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF! Be careful which toes you step on today, they might be connected to the foot that kicks your butt tomorrow. You can't scare me, I have children.

I'm assuming no one cares how hard this was for you or how much overtime/lack of sleep was required to get it implemented. They are also probably wondering why it took you so long.

Actually, that depends on your point of reference. Did you move around a lot a great speeds or was it just your own subjective perception of time ? ;P Sorry couldn't resist. Congratulations with your new challenge !

actually this is one of those probably very rare companies where the effort was greatly appreciated, they all ask how I'm doing after the lack of sleep etc.. and are openly appreciative of the work. They even have went out of their way not to "bug" me with nitpicky issues so that I could get this thing done. (one man show here for IT department, I cover the support, network, inhouse programming, if its IT related its on me, I do have GP consultants helping for this however) I don't plan on leaving any time soon :-D
