Its great there's are 8 million people now stuck with their homework and probably real work because they can't get question answered. Back to the good old days where people had to do research to find a problem with their code. :)

I wish that would be the case. These people will find another site to ask their questions. And the magical reputation system there will certainly get them their homework done. :sigh:

I've not been able to get on all day, and the main site is still down. Something serious must have happened, perhaps somebody unplugged the servers so they could use the socket. (I imagine that all the servers are plugged into a single socket, through the use of many extension leads and adapters)

It doesn't seem to be a new code release. It wouldn't take so long. I hope everything is fine there.

That happened to me a year or so ago. Server suddenly died, and when I went to look for it there was a consultant on his own in that room whose laptop had flashed a low battery warning at him so he had pulled a plug from a socket to give himself somewhere to charge it.

That was really really scary... I checked my mobile to make sure it was not just the work network... Phew CP is back, well done for getting the site back up and running :)

We had a hardware failure at exactly the time neither Vince nor I were available. Everythings been solid for ages and then, after making it through a holiday period where we were careful to ensure we had plentyof emergency coverage, the precise (to the hour) time that both of us were out of contact due to separate unforeseen circumstances was the time the hardware failed. /bangs head

I was in a business establishment yesterday. They had a book on the counter titled *Murphy's Law - When All Else Fails*. Well, being a firm disciple of Murphy, I could not resist. I open the book. Inside the hollowed out book was a pint bottle of bourbon and two shot glasses.
