    Recommend a Help/Documentation package?
Title says it all. I don't mind if the package needs Office or doesn't need it. Pros and Cons etc. I'm a software developer, not an author, but I need a help system now, so help me :-) All feedback appreciated. So far as I know there are two major players: ForeHelp (from Forefront Technology - www.ff.com) and RoboHelp (from Blue Sky Software I think). Personally, I'd go with ForeHelp. Depending on which flavour you buy, it can handle WinHelp, HTMLHelp and others, and it doesn't require Word etc. to do it. The feature I've always liked is the instant test mode which runs the help file without compiling it to disk (usually in under a second for WinHelp!) The last time I looked ForeFront published their prices on their website, whilst Blue Sky didn't (which just makes me twitchy!). Good luck. Andy Metcalfe - Sonardyne International Ltd

I love Doc-To-Help from Wextech. it works with M$ Word. With one file (your Word text) you build many things like help files, your paper documentation (with professionnal layout !). Visit the site : http://www.wextech.com/ regards Guy LECOMTE

RoboHelp HTML did the trick for me, and doesn't require Office. It will generate HTML Help, Java Help, Oracle Help, WebHelp or printed documentation. Its support for "What's This" help isn't as great as it might be (I get the impression that the support for What's This in the WinHelp product is more mature) but it works. I also found useful ( :rose: ) Oz Solomonovich's article "HTML Help for MFC Applications" in the October 2000 issue of Windows Developer's Journal. Sadly the article is not one of those available online, but there is source code available in the WDJ archive at http://www.wdj.com/code. I would recommend getting hold of a copy of this article. Thanks for the recommendations. I've been looking for a package like "help and manual" for ages. I'd always held off buying a package until I absolutely needed one. Glad I wait now that I've been shown H&M. This looks like it is exactly what I want. Of course I may change my mind once I've used it... Thanks to all that replied.
