make part of the play "open source" so to speak. the hackers can do their thing, the company can watch and learn, and the hackers dont have to hide. thet agree to leave regular game play alone.

Where is the fun in that? Hackers get off on hacking the "real deal". Unless they work for the company and they are running break and take testing. A lot of hackers these days have an agenda and being the company's friend is not on the agenda, I would think. my 2 cents. ;)

Agreed, a lot of them hack just for the challenge, and where would the fun be in hacking an open server?

Why not concede some white walls to the sprayers so they can do their graffitis on those walls instead of public property? The sprayers can do their thing, no property's damaged and police can use their force for more useful things and the sprayers don't have to hide. Well, it simply doesn't work. :)

Its called "forbidden fruit". "Help yourself fruit" just doesn't have that mystique.

Tactics. Secure all servers like Fort Knox and deliberately leave some backdoor open on the one you monitor. The hackers will eventually all hang around on that one and be right where you want to have them without knowing it :)

And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"

And I smiled and was happy
              And it came worse.

It does not work only if they know. Don't tell them and give them hell everywhere else. Sooner or later they will all be where you want them because they always got away with it.

Actually I was introduced to the concept by a drill sargeant and he used to call it a trap :)

And then you could set up a giant mousetrap and squish them all. :)
