While I know this has been an ongoing topic of late I cannot refuse the opportunity to respond to an email I received. I may have signed my digital death warrant, but I signed the petition against SOPA and PIPA. To which they replied with an ignorant reply of "we'll do our best nothing to avoid corporate censorship". So I check on the petition to see how many people have voted against both, which I was sorely disappointed. The shite[^] is ridiculous. Let's give lobbyists and corporate greed carte blanche to feck us over from anything they don't like shall we? Competition and sharing of new ideas shall become extinct. This seems a bit extreme, but most of those in "power" are willing to admit that they know little of the repercussions of these rulings. Copyright infringement my arse. There's already been reports of content being removed unlawfully. In one of these examples, there was a song being used to advocate MegaUpload, which they pulled it from Youtube with no copyright violations. Fair to say that we'll soon only have our searches directed to sites that are deemed "fit". There are ways around DNS blocking and what not, but come the feck on. The ignorance is astounding, albeit typical of Americans. I know my little voice means little, but if you agree with any of this please make it a point to share it. Other tangible goods related to this. Anon's latest msg[^] Outside perpective[^]

What is even more idiotic is that some countries claiming to be democratic (as if America is a democracy) will do the same if America tells them to or as an automatic reaction because if they did it it must be good. Goes to show who runs the show. And it is not who you think you voted.

Problem is, what with them being anonymous an' all that, how can we be sure it's from them and not just some attention-seeking idiot?

This discussion is even taking place in my little country which is not particularly known to.... Well how to put it... Make a big deal about downloading illigal content. In fact till this day, downloading anything is still legal. And even here a judge made the ruling that two ISP's should block the PirateBay or face rather big penalties. The positive thing is that some people in politics are now fighting this ruling as it obstructs the right to free communication. We'll see where this goes i guess, for now it seems that the lobbyist are winning(and the rest of humanity is loosing) Cheers, AT

simple fact is america is a fascist state now... you can tell simple by looking at a few facts. 1) most laws are drafted by corperate lobby groups. 2) most political parties are funded by corperate lobby groups 3) most corperations have extensive exclusions from laws they dont want to abid by. -- look at all the tax/environmental exemptions big business gets 4) the privatisation of all state functions. (jails, war, healthcare, etc.) most of the elected puppets dont even read the bills the pass... corperate interests over common interests = fascism

It's a text-book implementation of the methods that ensure the minimum number of signatures on a petition.
