I found this article at The Register website http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/01/19/world_of_warcraft_addicts/[^]. It disturbs me a little that kids can become so engrossed in a game that they'd do things like that or compromise their health in other ways. Ian Hislop from BBC's HIGNFY once commented that kids can name every character in the Pokemon card collection but they're stumped if you ask them to name the capital cities of five countries. It wasn't long ago that a Korean couple let their baby die because they were so engrossed playing games that they forgot to care for it. A couple we know once pulled the plug out of the socket when they realised their teenage son had been playing for hours without any break. He turned on them with such spite that it surprised them how his behaviour changed, all because of a game. Quite sad.

The time and effort they put into such games have a very real value for those people. It's not only a score of points for them, but something they have earned with time and sweat. Then it's not at all surprising that they defend this 'investment' against anything or anybody threatening it. Have we not had some people who went a little overboard when getting some more reputation points or defending them against 'idiots' who dared not to agree with them?

And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"

And I smiled and was happy
      And it came worse.

so true, but sad for the next generation. :( IMO parents are also responsible for game addiction of children. Parents are so busy with works that they are not properly providing time to the kid and normally all the kids are attention seeker.(This is my observation). So they providing options like cartoon series or playing games and think that they have completed their responsibility :|

Kids? I have the same problem, sometimes with something as dull as facebook or youtube. Basic obsessive behavior. Lollies are to fruit as Lego is to woodwork as Computer games are to offline reality All give a quick result so are very appealing in the short term.

I'm desperate for a pee now, but I can't be bothered going all the way across the office.

There used to be a device called the Sneaky Leaker. Putting the outlet into a bottle would be the ultimate in gaming convenience. Googling for it might be NSFW.

Peeing in a bottle is hardly a problem, a little odd perhaps but just a symptom and not the actual problem. Not peeing at all could be bad though.

Have you seen the video of the kid that freaked out when his brother delected his WOW account?

Although we try and control the amount of time our kids play on games all the time, it is amazing how upset they get if we say no to them playing. With my son we have a simple rule. His school books have to come home and he needs to show us that he has properly completed all of his homework before he can play. If he doesn't bring the books home, then he simply cannot play that evening. I had to enforce that last night and was quite surprised at how upset he was that he couldn't play.

                      I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.
