Perhaps not an entirely appropriate posting for the lounge, but then there seems to be a lot of those. Sometimes interesting, sometimes dull, and sometimes really not appropriate for posting on any forum. I found this one interesting, but then I enjoy National Geographic[^] too.

Entirely appropriate. The Lounge was designed to be a place for posting anything at all, except programming questions and items likely to degenerate into flame wars. In recent years a few newcomers have taken upon themselves the unearned role of critic and censor, and decided that they will determine what is appropriate. When they go away the Lounge will return to its former glory as a hangout for tired, but brilliant people who want to chat with peers about anything but work. :-D Rule of thumb: If it fits in another forum, post it there. If it's likely to piss someone off, post it in the Soapbox. Anything else goes here. After all, with 8 million+ of us, if one finds a topic interesting, someone else very likely will, too.

 When I opened the browser on the lounge this morning, this posting[^] had received downvotes, apearantly originating with a heavyweight CP member or two, and voting it a 5 had just about no impact at all. While I enjoy stuff that's not just programmer centric, appearantly somebody had a "bad hair day" this morning - but it wasn't me.

Hehehe. We all have our bad hair days, except me of course. When I see a post that doesn't interest me, I just move along. But some people don't feel fulfilled if they can't do something, even if it's only a negative act - like governments, really. :-D I ignore them, and the occasional downvotes I get. It hasn't affected my pay yet, or got me booted from a bar, so what does it really matter?

Very interesting! I hadn't heard of these before. It seems a novel approach to building a temple, cutting directly into the rock. I suppose it makes sense if you haven't a few million slaves handy for lifting and piling rocks, like the Egyptians had. :-D

Modern day CPians apparently :-) Personally, I found the thread quite uninteresting too, specially since the OP merely linked to the site without any comments, but it didn't kill me to ignore it and move on.

                        Regards, Nish

No one in particular: just can't see the point of posting a link with no explanation or discussion point - usually illicits inane or insulting comments or gets downvoted. I wasn't having a go; just pointing out what I thought was pretty obvious. This is, after all, a discussion forum.
