I want to know if web applications are suitable to do accounting.(I see a lot of accounting softwares written in VB,VC but not in web technology like ASP,JSP...). I am working for a bank. And I think it is so much easier to build a online client/server banking system using web technology. If it is,please tell me the advantages and disadvantages when using web technology. Thank You Very Much :confused::confused:

errrrrrr most banks have internet banking options now and they seem to work well ... ssl is the key advantages are platform independence on the client side and ease of 'upgrading' the client end disadvantages ... hmmmm ... well u _can_ make fancier front ends in native code but not enuff to nulify the advantages

Online banking already exists, but that is very different from Accounting. Not exactly sure what you mean by online accounting? Do you mean actual book keeping etc.? That would be quite a task. Anything in a manner of speaking can be done on the web. Question is whether there is any advantage to it.

I don't know how good it is, but Oracle's Small Business Suite[^] is web-based and supports accounting as well as inventory, CRM, etc. It is provided by NetLedger.[^]. Sean Winstead
