Managed it on the third try: the others failed with "page timed out" errors. Each page of the 12 needed to do this took between 2 and 4 minutes to arrive. :wtf: Now, I'm sure it is because of the number of people taxing cars at the end of the month, but when do they expect us to do it? I'm not going to give them yet more of my money four weeks earlier than I have to - they pinch enough off us already! It's not even as if they can't estimate pretty accurately the level of demand they are going to get: count the number of V11 forms they sent out at the beginning of the month, and that'll be the number, maybe less 10%~20% for those without insurance...

Oddly enough I taxed my car on Friday, and the disc arrived this morning. I had no problems, and it only took me about 5 mins in total.

They were so amazed that somebody in Luton actually taxed their car that they couriered it right over. I'm surprised the marching band and press haven't turned up to witness this historic event.

This coming from a man in the North East! Of course the motor car hasn't made it that far yet, you still rely on ponies and traps.

If by "taxing cars" you mean paying for another year's permission to have it on the road (registration, in the US), it takes <5 minutes online in Arizona, and the tags for the license plate arrive by mail in 2 days. ;P

That's pretty mind boggling. :wtf: I taxed both our cars in less than five minutes - and it only took that long because I renewed my wife's motor insurance mid-December, so I had to type in the new policy number, as it had not reached the MofT database. Otherwise it would have been less than two minutes each - including printing out the tax disks. I guess we just write better code out here in Cyprus. ;P

I've been doing exactly the same, timed out completely on the final step. Checked my bank, money had gone, phoned them up and spoke to a lovely boyo isn't it? He confirmed all had been processed OK.

The fun bit is, I could have driven there and done it in person quicker!

I use the website because I have an almost total inability to keep an MOT certificate somewhere it can be located again. This car didn't even have one when I bought it, save me the job of losing it, although I did check online that it had been MOTd (not in a Keith Lemon way) before buying it. A couple of years ago after days of frantic searching for an MOT certificate I swore I was going to buy a frame for the next one and keep it on the wall in plain sight.

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

I keep mine with my insurance certificate, inside my driving licence. Now, all I have to do is remember where that is... :sigh:

Are you trying to tell me you have an efficient government? One that knows what it is doing? :omg: That'd be a first!

No, I'm just saying that someone, just once, designing this tiny subsystem, accidentally produced something that works. So far nobody's noticed its "lack of features," but I'm sure that once someone does there will be an upgrade to slow things down and randomly insert cancellations in perfectly valid transactions.

                                        Will Rogers never met me.
