Every line of code is a liability - Taka MuraokaAccess will be free, and participants will actually make changes to the code, if necessary Ok, I just don't see where this can be a good idea. An example (possible risk): Jim-boy here didn't like the pop-up splash type screen Word uses so he went in to "fix it". Allowing access to the code is one thing, however allowing someone to change it, recompile, and leave the MS name in is a whole other story that has way too many hole for me. By providing them with some of the sources they can be kept silent and stay with microsoft, so that Bill can say windows is the best platform because the goverments use it. greets, Poolbeer If loyalties must be, If the lines must be crossed, Do it fast, Do it furious The Fast and the Furious

"By opening up, Microsoft may just end up locking down the governmental software market." You don't think that the source code won't end-up, on some virus maker's PC? That will open up 20 more security flaws. I guess MS, thinks it's solid. Later, JoeSox
