Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies. -- Sarah Hoyt

Wow! Disrespect from all sides. That kid sounds like a handful but that is what happens when parents do not make kids work from a young age. Kids needs responsibilities. Kids do not need cell phones and laptops and internet access all the time. They need good old fashioned hard work. The kid was way wrong but had the parents done things different this would have never happened. Both sides need to be accountable.

Glad to see some parents still consider shit and other words curse words, because many others do not. I'm glad he disciplined her and I think it's fine he posted it on her Facebook wall, but destroying the laptop served no purpose since she probably needs it for school work (unless of course he has a more controlled one for her to use). Since he's in IT, he could just have easily blocked FB from the router side and limited the time she spends online. I wonder how they're both doing now.

Because of course some words that at one time were considered very objectionable, no longer are as objectionable. Just as other idioms are as well. For example being able to discuss sexual issues.

Smoking, littering, can't pronounce 'responsibility' and feels so insecure he needs to destroy the laptop to make his point. And he couldn't keep it private? Not the kind of role model I want to be for my kids. But then again my experience of teenage girls was working to try and get something into them not trying to get work out of them so what would I know?
