Rossini? Incidentally, you typed Goole instead of Google. Goole is a port in Yorkshire and its name is the Anglo Saxon word for Open Sewer. I have been to Goole, and the Saxons were right.

I checked, it was an old Saxon word. But yes, its glory days are now far behind it.

Actually, because of century non-leap years, 220 leap years ago would be 874 years ago. ;P [Edit] :-O :-O :-O I shouldn't be subtracting the six century years, but rather adding them. 220 leap years ago would have to be 886 years ago in order to account for the century years that were *not* leap years. Thanks. I thought I missed something. Many years ago I was asked to investigate a report application which did not work on Feb 29th. I thought, wow, that was an interesting bug. I was disappointed to find out that the app did not work on 31th either.

Back in the days of Y2K testing, I was tasked with some testing instructions concerning some DB procedures that accepted date parameters. The list of dates that I was supposed to test included invalid dates like that. February 29, 2000. Good Date. Check. February 29, 2001. Bad Date. Check. Didn't the calender switch in 1582 which may change the math slightly?

Leap years are +1 for every 4 years, +0 for every 100 years, but +1 for every 400 years. I'm getting 220 leap years ago would be 901 years ago. 220 LY = 1 (2012 is a leap year) + 219 * 4 + 6 * 4 (1300, 1400, 1500, 1700, 1800, 1900 were skipped, so add six more four years) = 901Y The year 1112 would be 220 leap years ago. In Excel, start with 2012 in cell A1 and "=A1 -4" in cell A2 and copy that down to row A226. In column B, put 1 to 226 for indices (B2 = B1 + 1). Change B29 (1900) to equal B28, B54 (1800) to equal B53, B79 (1700) to equal B78, B129 (1500) to equal B128, B154 (1400) to equal B153, and B179 (1300) to equal B178. Eliminating the 6 non-leapyears, B226 becomes the 220th leap year. Of course this does not take into consideration when the Church changed the calander, I think.
