According to Microsoft, our opinion doesn't matter and we should just shut up because we will learn to love it and we are idiots for doubting them.

actually its more likely that these people are unproductive and have time to bombard MS with trash rather than having to actually use the software. the colours were probably introduced to appeal to web developers (check Expression Web to see that in action) in the first place, personnel i could care less about the colours/icons etc as long as they work

Replacing the progress bar during install with the balls is more entertaining. I'm not sure about the whole grey theme though. I can see it is a clean look but we have 16 million colors available why limit it to 16 shades of grey?

I think you just came up with a new color - Grey Balls. I can see it now, Lady walks into a paint store and says "Hi. I would like to order 5 gallons of Grey Balls in shade #3, please."

There are a few colours left here and there. (in C++, don't know about other languages) If you go to a class view in the solution explorer, the buttons for the actions (events, ovverides, message) are still in colours. And I think a couple of menu bitmaps are still coloured.

I could say I have heard of blue balls but that would push KSS. :)

I noticed the new projects dialog ReportViewer is in color but others are not.

I heard that part of the feedback from VS2010 was that the colours were a distraction!

I was very glad of the move away from the chunky and garish red and brown eyesore that was 2008.
