If I have a 32 OS and I need to run a software that need 64 bit what to do in this case? I was thinking of installing VPC and install win 7 on it
Yeah you can do something - install the 64 bit OS instead of using the 32 bit you have now

I was thinking you're not very observant.

Did you see my other reply? There's a solution there...

If I have a 32 bit OS can I install virtual PC on it and run a 64 bit OS on it VPC?
Yes - but you would have to install the OS twice, with different product keys. Since one of these would have to be in the high 32 bits, you can probably do it most easily by placing your two OS disks in the drive together, one each way up.

You can have it the other way - 32 bit running on a 64 bit machine - but not the other way around. It's a simple thing to do with the word size on the cpu - you can't put 64 into 32 but 32 into 64 is easy. Remember, if the words don't fit you can't commit.

Apparently some virtual machine software allows for that if you have 64-bit hardware with a 32-bit OS (VMWare does I think). Also it seems that QEMU can fake 64-bit hardware, but from my understanding it only works on Linux. I found all this in about 2 minutes of Googling. Try Googling "64 bit virtual machine on 32 bit os" (sans quotations) for more information.

Do you have a 64 bit machine? If so, look at dual booting into 64 and 32 bit instances.

It's not a setting, it's the hardware.

To be fair, he was talking about a 32 OS. He didn't specify if the hardware was 32 or 64 bit. I'd still assume (not knowing too much about VM's other than the one I have running on CentOS is a huge PITA) no if you are running the virtual machine on top the 32 bit OS, but if you're running it on bare metal then it should be fine.

A dual core processor is also a must - make sure the cores are placed side by side

One of the problems with running a 64 bit system under 32 bit is that 32 bit does not understand what is happening in 64 bit system. You could create one I guess, but why bother from the point of view of the people developing VM software. One of the big issues with VM's is that need lots of memory. You get above 3-4 gb, and the host (32 bit) os cannot handle more, so cannot allocate. With modern OS's, lots of memory is required, particularly 64 bit. I doubt you will have much luck finding recent generation VM software that is even going to run on 32 bit systems since they are considered obsolescent in higher end systems. Right now Hyper-V only supports 64-bit hosts. Virtual PC supports 32 bit and 64 bit hosts, but I think it only currently supports older OS’s, and only 32 bit What you might be able to do is have a 32 bit system running under the host 64 bit system, and then control the allocation of VM’s from the 32-bit system. Should be able to do this control using PowerShell 2.0. I know that Microsoft VMM does this function, but the current
