Okay, you all usually have the answers. My son who is down at college in Florida (Full Sail) for 3D game design, needs to set up a website and post some of his artwork. I've been looking online for a free web hosting service for him, but I also need one that is easy to set up and maintain as he has no programming experience. He'll probably need to create a page or two and then upload some pictures of his artwork. What are the recommendations for this? His professors recommend this to get his name and work out there for others to see. Thanks, Carolyn

Wordpress is pretty simple to setup and maintain, but if it's a 3 or 4 page portfolio site, he can probably just build html himseld over a weekend. As far as free hosting, I don't experiment with that much. There are plenty of very affordable hosting companies.

sounds like he just needs a simple blog site, something like "blogger.com" https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&passive=1209600&continue=http://www.blogger.com/home&followup=http://www.blogger.com/home&ltmpl=start#s01[^]

Is there a limit on the amount of content he can upload? He'll be taking pictures of his artwork to post. Thanks, Carolyn

Why so worried about price? A domain can be had for $3/year and a website can be had for $5/month(some domain name ideas). Anything Free will likely have ads or something annoying like that to make things look unprofessional. He could always create a Code Project account and toss some links on his profile page to images hosted for free on imgur.com (though I think a certain level of reputation points are now required to post profile links). Though if all that is too much work, a blog service (like somebody else mentioned) could work. And he could create a professional public Facebook page.

He's a college student with no money. The miscalculated some of his grants so he's already trying to cut expenses so he has enough money for the first eight months. Carolyn

If all he wants to do is upload artwork how about Flickr? You are allowed up to 200 photos before they charge you.

I think the professors want the students to create a website that showcases them and their work. I thought flickr was more about just posting pictures. Carolyn

That looks like a pretty awesome personal solution. I might make an account there for a personal playground (I already have a cheap hosting plan on Hostmonster with a domain and everything for 'serious' stuff).

Dad is not around. Has only seen them once since Xmas 2004. And the kids intiated the contact after going to court about child support again. I'm sending part of the child support I get for him to help with the food and such. Though support for him may stop since he's over 21. I'm trying to get post secondary education support for my son, but with the amount their dad makes, I'm guessing the judge is not going to award any. I spent over $1200 getting him set up in his apartment because they don't have dorms at the school he's going to. Plus the expenditure of moving all his stuff to Florida (we lived in Indiana).

It has a built in tool for making pages but it is just for making simple webpages. If he wants a user friendly tool for making his website he can use Wordpress and then upload his website in any webhost he want.
