I was sitting in High School Physics class when the principal announced the tragedy over the intercom. It was very very sad.

Tough to watch, but thanks for sharing. 5. For me this will always be one of those few in a lifetime events that I'll remember where I was, what I was doing and how I felt when it happened. I've been to Florida once in my life, my parents took me to Disney World while I was in grade school (yes, even before Epcot Center) and had the incredible luck of seeing the first Columbia mission take off from our hotel balcony on the first morning of our trip. That triggered my interest in the program and I also happened to be in high school and home sick when Challenger exploded and for some reason saw it live (on an English station and I barely understood English at the time). I remember the weird feeling of disbelief, hoping they would find survivors. :rose:

Ah yes I remember that well. I was stationed at the Air Force Academy at the time and I remember the fire fighters from next door running over to tell us and we went to their office to watch. So sad.

There will always be certain events that will forever be burned in our memories - for me, seeing my 6th grade teacher coming into the classroom in tears and announcing that JFK had been shot (1963), staying up into the wee hours of the morning to see Neil Armstrong step onto the surface of the Moon (1969), the Challenger accident (1974) and the Twin Towers collapse (2001) among other significant memories. :sigh:
