But now my Enter key doesn't fit in the hole where the original Tab key was. And the guy at the next desk is looking pretty angry...

Strangely, my keyboard is meant for idiots: it has the funny tab arrows and the word "Tab". My Enter key has the arrow and word as well.

Mine has only the arrows, no 'Tab'. But on the tab key there is also the mysterious word 'Alt-Wechsel'. As 'Alt' means 'old' and 'Wechsel' means 'exchange', this probably has something to do with replacing the key or the entire keyboard when it gets old. Or perhaps when you get old?

You know what they say, if it can be done easily, then it must be the wrong way to do it. You must be one of those object re-oriented developers. ;)

It was broke, so I fixed it.

Sadly our syllabus in college is close to shit. They do not let your brains to grow on its own and explore. They force ur brain to just learn what ever shit is written there and grow with it. They dont even care if you have learn and understood. If you have passed just by remembering the lines its enough. And same shit is in our corporate too. No room for innovation, no importance given to individual talent exploration ( i rem google), no new ideas, no different approach is given importance. Hence at the end of day, every tom dick and harry here will be beating around the same damn bush.

Which is a shame because it makes Indian software development shops do a really bad job, because (in general) they can't see the big picture (architecture/design level) issues that they're coding themselves into. At least you recognise the problem, hopefully that means you escaped the dumb system!

I keep seeing the same questions being asked in Q&A, all from Indian members. An example being "Make the Tab Key act as the Enter Key" or some variation of that. Is there an exam due? Are papers to be presented by Friday? Are there going to be a lot of disappointed ex-developers running wild across the Sub-Continent come Monday morning?

It will be the reverse I think ('Make the Enter Key act as the Tab Key' ) Sometimes it happens (If this is soapbox i would have added some characters before 'it' :) ) By default, the software will be in a IT industrial standard manner. Then according to the customer, we customise it, customise i.,custo.......,cus.........,c.........,...... In my experience, we have to convert the customers from a billing machine to our MIS system. Apparently they all are fall into the numpad of the key board. Even I did a customisation that when type '0' and 'enter' the data should save and print, when type '00' and 'enter' the data should save but donot print (like 'it' stuff :)).

Unfortunately the dumb management a**holes wants things to happen at very fast rate and with less cost. How on earth great awesome things can happen over night? Not even architects in here do aware of the internals or very indepth of the system. So on how on earth do you expect such great outcome? At the end of the day, every body here is just worried about making money and growing up the ladder even if they output just SHIT.
