City? Skills and abilities? (i.e. is it one years' experience repeated 7 to 9 times or is there something more than that to it?) Domain? Your current salary? And yes, to a certain extent, educational qualifications? In India, as far as I know, salaries vary widely, but they do so mostly by these particular parameters. BTW, in India, there also is a greater emphasis on time-frame of commitment to an organization. Meant to be measured in years, not months. Junior level folks jump around a lot, but from mid-level on, you are supposed to become "stable," "settled" and so on and so forth. Still, IT field tends to be more forgiving for "restlessness" compared to others. I keep getting promotional emails from those online-job web-sites. Wonder how come they left your email id out of the loop. ------- Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed. (Francis Bacon) Nature, to be apprehended, must be obeyed. (Ayn Rand)

Ajit: Thankd for your reply. Here are some answers to your questions: * City - Madras/Bangalore/Hyderabad * Education - MCA * Experience - Aound 9 years total IT experience. Focus on Object oriented Design/Development, C++, VC++,MFC, COM , RDBMS, multi tier client server business applications and Internet technologies(ASP, Javascript, XML etc) * Current Salary - In in US right now and so my US salary and the salalry I'll get in India are not aomparable. About the job sites, please let me know about what you know or use. I know sites like Jobsahead.com and PrizedJobs.com. Thanks in advance

Hi Arun, Nope, I have not used one of those sites. Unfortunately don't have those emails saved with me either. Moreover, I have no idea about IT scene in the three cities you mention. You are right, salaries in the US and in India are not comparable, by and large, even after factoring out cost-of-living. Exceptions are possible though. These tend to be to fill the demand for some niche skillsets or so. Again, it's a volatile field. If returning to India, it might be well worth considering quitting IT field itself. At least, I am thinking of doing that. ------- Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed. (Francis Bacon) Nature, to be apprehended, must be obeyed. (Ayn Rand)

Hi Arun, I have seen people receiving pay around 40 to 70K per month for 4+ years experience at B'lore, you can check out with Jobsahead.com .. but this is just a suggestion, I myself havent used it. There are lots of good companies in B'lore who are still recruiting even in the poor economic conditions. Cheers Kannan
