Seeing as it was on the weekend. I remember I used to pick up a colleague for work everyday. So this Saturday I organized with his wife to pull up in the morning and toot the horn. I couldn't help myself, I went in and watched him freaking out getting ready. Jumped in the car and and asked him if he knew it was April fools day. ;P

:thumbsup: to NoScript for FF. Seems it saved me yet again - Mika's link just timed out and I didn't try again. It's a bit of a pain having to OK the good guys, but it's kept a lot off nasties out of my patch. Cheers, Peter

No script is way more of a PITA than I'm willing to deal with. Even compared to restoring several hundred GB of data over 100Mbit eithernet (my gb switch died a few days ago). Current ETA is 12.5 hours; but WHS appears to use win9x install time since it was less than three hours earlier.

... or maybe not. ETA was unchanged when I went to bed a few hours later, and has only moved up a single hour overnight. Doesn't really matter though; it's still "after I get home from work".

Agreed, Google Maps' Quest view rocks. Mashable had a funny story about Virgin Volcanic creating a digger to take people to the center of the Earth. Namecheap.com visitors were shown a very old version of their site that claimed to be a redesign. It was painful but kudos to them for an idea that probably didn't take much effort but generated a lot of notice. I couldn't resist joining in the fun on my own site about job search, where I claimed that a new startup's software will make recruiters redundant.

I don't know why for example I'm still not getting any problems with the site and I'm not getting any information about fake tools etc. Could it be that for example the ads are different or something similar... Tainted ads would be my first guess as well; what hit my computer was different than what tried to infect Gary's machine. Since I was browsing via Opera I'm 99% sure I was infected via a flash/java exploit; not javascript. Also, I got a new version of flash this morning at work following the Monday morning boot; my home PC was probably up since patch Tuesday. I've never heard of anything targeting O in the wild; security via obscurity might be philosophically poor but often works in the real world.

No, AFAIK there was no temporal singularity. But it is so, the day of the fool is the 28th.December in Spain. Don't ask me why, it is just like that.
