2012 Mustang V6 Performance
-
I have to say that this is an AMAZING car, considering it's "only" got a 6 cylinder engine. I commute to work on a 2-lane road with a posted speed limit of 40mph, and that has just two opportunities to pass slower vehicles in a 16-mile stretch of road. The chance to use those passing opportunities are very infrequent due to oncoming traffic. When you stab the gas on this car, it literally leaps forward and the power band seems endless. I've had to use this feature three times, and I'm still averaging over 23mpg (if the MPG readout on the dash is to be believed). Despite the few annoyances I've had about the car, it's a thrill to drive. While I'm confident now in my selection of the V6 over the GT, I can't help but wonder how much more impressive the V8 must be in terms of acceleration. I get my new wheels on Monday, and maybe even tires as well (depends on how late the wheels arrive and if the tire shop has the tires in stock).

"Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997Jeez, John - you just bought me a whole world of pain. I was about to post that although your new machine no doubt had fine performance, it really had twice as many wheels as it really needed for real performance, and was just browsing Youtube for some videos of the Kawasaki ZZR1400 When MrsLadyWife walked in. Now, I used to be a motorcycle fanatic, racing an' all when I were a lad, but was told by SWMBO I had to stop some ten years ago when some guy wiped me out with a Chelsea tractor (SUV to you) by doing something totally stupid and utterly illegal. I ended up under a bus, which just managed to stop in time. So then, there I am watching this[^] video, and an assumption that I am about to buy another bike is made. My assurances to the contrary were totally ignored. Oh the earache! Oh the pain! :sigh: :(( AND I BLAME YOU!

"Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997I have a 2011 V6 with the 6 speed MT and the performance package and I love it! What other mods do you plan?

Well, after the second bike destruction (fortunately without serious injuries) I gave up. However 6 years later... Bike again! now I enjoy my GSR 600. :)
Veni, vidi, vici.
My last bike (sob :(( ) was a BMW K 1100 RS in a glorious metallic blue. I miss her still. She was completely rebuilt by the local BMW agent on the other guy's insurance, and when finished looked like the day I bought her. After proudly riding her home MrsLadyWife looked at it and said "SELL IT - NOW!" Actually, she had a point. Although the weather in Cyprus is usually perfect for motorcycling, the driving here is most definitely not.

"Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997John, my Jag has a V6 and it will definitely get up and go. My wife refuses to drive it, because she says she'll get too many tickets. I also normally get around 25 MPG and on the highway it averages about 33 MPG at the speed limit on flat ground. After I first got it, I was trying to merge onto the freeway between Galveston and Houston and some dip-wad was trying to pace me to make sure I couldn't get in. I said WTF and put the pedal down and got merged in easily enough. I looked at the speedometer and I went from around 40 to 125 MPH in the space of the freeway merge lane. Fortunately there were no police and after that, I always keep an eye on things. Don't under estimate what those V6's can do these days. It's amazing. I think you made the right choice picking the V6.

I believe that Land Rover latched onto the V6 engine they fitted in Range Rovers when some exec was travelling in the US. He apparently saw it being used to pump water and the original engine was a cast-off from GM. The full details are patchy perhaps but Land Rover bought the rights to the engine design and they turned it into one of the great engine successes which gave many years of great service to the marque. I had a "shorty" Land Rover in South Africa and we had a V6 engine fitted. It was expensive to do but by-Harry, did that puppy eat dirt big time. V6s might be old-hat now but they've given a lot of pleasure to a lot people and may it continue.

"Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997Oh yes, they get up and go. My '11 with V6 jumps when you mash the gas and all of a sudden you've gone from 50mph to 100mph and are just barely past the car you're passing. :)
