Sorry, but I consider this an apples V. Oranges comparison. A sports heroes following is (should be) based upon his/her performance. The problem with religion is that it tries to lead, and sometimes by very poor example. It is far to easy for someone to inflict violence on a group and use it as an excuse. I can't remember the last time that someone killed 3000 people because he thought that his sports team got a rough call in the playoffs. Christian Graus wrote: but it seems you've made decisions based on God, by looking at how the worst examples of those who claim to follow Him behave. ...anyway, is this not what you have done to VB developers, and the language itself ? :)

Just 39 deads in the Heysel Stadium (Liverpool vs Juventus), perhaps South America has done better.

I have been thinking about putting on some Goa/Techno and hold the woofer against the ceiling. But I don't want to risk getting into trouble with my other neighbours. BTW, why remove the cone from the woofer? Then nothing will happen...!? -- There's a new game we like to play you see. A game with added reality. You treat me like a dog, get me down on my knees. Jörgen Sigvardsson wrote: Then nothing will happen...!? The cone on a speaker serves only to move a volume of air back and forth as the coil and driver magnet (there are a couple of variatins on the theme). In this application you want the driving force to move the ceiling panel itself - simply attaching the whole speaker to the panel will not transfer enough energy into the next space above. They used to make a thing call a 'driver' that was a coneless speaker with a lag screw for attaching it directly to the walls of your house, and advertised it as a way to "turn your own walls into huge speakers." Connecting the two moving parts of the device to the ceiling causes the panel to flex, in effect, becoming the missing cone, but projecting much more energy into the room above. Of course there is the slight risk that you'll happen onto the natural resonant frequency of the building, with spectacular results... Try to have a video camera available to record the event if it happens.:-D Nobody wants to read a diary by someone who has not seen the shadow of Bubba on the prison shower wall in front of them!

What a good idea! One of my neighbours becomes crazy because of the mummy who lives above him, and is persecuting him (yes, it's possible!), I will communicate him this one :) Just a precision, what do you call a "a woofer with no cone" ?

KaЯl wrote: the mummy who lives above him Isn't that a bit of a contradiction? A woofer with no cone is a speaker made for low frequency operation, with the paper cone cut away. This reduces it to a coil and driver plate or magnet, and a frame with an attached ring magnet. The relative motion of these two parts, which would normally move air within the room by means of the cone, is applied to the ceiling panel instead, causing it to become the cone. Yes, but you missed the point entirely. The analogy is an excellent one. Ray Cassick wrote: The problem with religion is that it tries to lead, and sometimes by very poor example. Yes, and sometimes people who play sport also approach it badly. The difference is that they get weeded out, religions just form around new ideas. But by taking the worst of those ideas, which surely indicate human failing, how can that be a judgement on God ? Ray Cassick wrote: anyway, is this not what you have done to VB developers, and the language itself ? No, I base my opinion of VB on the VB programmers I have met, and even more so my own exposure to the language. If I am not kidding around, I'll admit there is a minority who write usable code in VB, despite the language. Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002
