The phone bill was exceptionally high.. Man called a family meeting to discuss. Dad: "This is unacceptable. I don't use home phone, i use my work phone". Mum: "Me too. I hardly use home phone." Son: I use my office mobile I never use the home phone. All of them shocked & together look at the maid who's patiently listening to them.. Maid: "what? So we all use our work phones. Whats the Big deal?:-P

Firstly , how many people have maids these days, and why would a phone bill be exceptionally high? Most are fixed price contracts.

Actually, me. Or at least the in-laws do & that is where I'm living. They earn next to nothing, have long hours, one (SIL's maid) has a degree and earns more here than she does in Malaysia as a University Administrator. It is a sad world.

Actually, maids are more of a pain than they're worth, unless you have a big house. You have to keep everything tidy he whole time and nothing is where you left it even if you do and there is little privacy. We've had to agree that she won't clean anything on the desk after she decided to "clean" my laptop with a dirty rag.

From what I know: They are common in India, some families have a lot of them assigned to particular tasks. In some West European countries like Germany or Spain also have maids, but I think they are called differently, house-keepers or something. They exists in US too, but because here the efficiency is religion, one maid cleans and/or babysit for a few homes and lives in her own place.
There is only one Vera Farmiga and Salma Hayek is her prophet! Advertise here – minimum three posts per day are guaranteed.

In your part of the world getting a maid would be expensive and difficult. But in India any Medium Income Group people do keep a maid for all the basic needs like cleaning utensils, mopping the floor and washing the clothes(rarely) and its not very expensive (say 25$ a month average.) And in India the concept of Fixed price Contracts are not yet implemented and i doubt it will be implemented.
