Look back in ASCII[^]. I was reading this earlier today, frequently muttering to myself "Ah yes, I remember it well." with an occasional "I owned one of those.". Until I got to the last page, that is. The very bottom of the last page. The Exidy Sorceror? :wtf: Never heard of it and back in the day I devoured most of the computing press. I'm not infallible, of course, and it might have escaped my attention at the time or I could have forgotten it. Anyone remember it?

Henry Minute Girl: (staring) "Why do you need an icy cucumber?" “I want to report a fraud. The government is lying to us all.” I wouldn't let CG touch my Abacus! When you're wrestling a gorilla, you don't stop when you're tired, you stop when the gorilla is. Cogito ergo thumb - Sucking my thumb helps me to think.

I haven't either but from the look of it was a console plus a keyboard, mind you the cartridge slot allowed fast access for reading, ah well off to try and find it on Wiki...

I remember the Sorceror very well from ads. It disappeared like many others as more and more companies tried to sell their next new machines. I think the Sorceror belongs more in the time from 1977 - 1980 when the short era of the self built computers and kits ended. Does anybody remember the Heathkit H8? :) Anyway, when I look at my old computer, which also was a kit, I still am glad to have experienced at least the end of that time.

Well a poke around and found it was a Z80 like most of the (European) machines at that time (the BBC being an exception!) From what I read was imported from Europe didn't sell disappeared! (never heard that before, I am a little unsure of the switch at the front after market mod!) Glenn

I am one of the few that actually owned one (The Exidy Sorceror). I bought it with money I made working summer jobs in high school. For the time, it had some very interesting features. Like the TRS-80, it didn't really have a graphics mode, but used characters to draw graphics on the screen. Unlike the TRS-80, the top 128 characters were mapped to RAM, so you could replace them at the pixel level. There were a number of games for the Sorceror that were based on arcade games, and they looked just like the arcade games because of the character set remapping. John
