 Noooooooooooooooooooooo! I've checked it out: the age of consent is 16 and voting age is 18. How can you acheive any of these things if all parties are dead-sober?

Good question. I most likely will not drink, due to the fact that even just the smell of alcohol makes me sick. Same goes for coffee, if I drink that, I become violently ill.

Simple. We don't actually start voting until we're 50 and realize sometimes it matters. As for age of consent that varies by state as well. Also, apparently parental consent as evidenced by the 51 year old actor that married a 16 year old. He had to get permission from her parents to do it... X|

Whilst I admire your candour, I feel that it was slightly too much information.

A student at Purdue came into Meridith residence hall at 3:30 AM and spontaneously decided to set off the fire alarms. I was fast asleep and fell out of my bed when the alarms went off (those things are LOUD and can break your eardrums).:mad::mad: From what I have heard, the student (a freshman) was drinking underage with a fake ID. Not sure if that is what happened (that 'rumor' pops up whenever there is an unplanned fire drill), but if it is, that student will be kicked out. We also had a severe thunderstorm last night, as well. How was your night? Need... Sleep...

No wonder American's can't drink. 21? 16 in Britain is the legal age for alcohol in restaurants. 18 in pubs.

I have been violently ill after drinking, but I think it was because I was sobering up, so I ensured that I never felt like that again! [Nurse, bring me more gin]

This is the third time it has happened here the previous two times happened at midnight and approx. 1:15 AM. Each time same thing, drunk freshman, fake ID, and so on and so forth. There have been some actual fires, such as when a kid caught some oatmeal he was cooking on fire. A girl also burnt popcorn, which prompted someone to activate the alarm. I still remember one of my finals at high school, when an explosion in a chemistry lab set off the fire alarms. I was in a room at the other end of the hallway. The school was emptied in record time.

FYI, as long as they are not IN the room with the bar, children can legally be bought alcohol from the age of 5 as it is an 'off sale'. No Landlord would ever allow this though.

I managed to have a great night out - fooled all the bar staff with my fake id. I was a bit miffed when I got back to my room as every lightswitch I hit set off the firealarms. Anyway the good news is someone stopped the alarms and I had a nice long restful night of sleep

I wonder what a fake ID has anything to do with it... Do you purduers not have parties around there? Is it really that hard to get alchohol that you must have a fake ID? Anyways, thats part of living in the dorms. Get use to it or get an apartment. Dorm life is fun if you make it fun. Yes some people will be inconsiderate elephants. Don't let them ruin it for you. Cause it will just set you up for not being able to deal with said people after you graduate.

FYI, as long as they are not IN the room with the bar, children can legally be bought alcohol from the age of 5 as it is an 'off sale'. No Landlord would ever allow this though.

Yes, technically the pub garden is not deemed to be a place that serves alcohol.

 Noooooooooooooooooooooo! I've checked it out: the age of consent is 16 and voting age is 18. How can you acheive any of these things if all parties are dead-sober?

Well exactly. Also, you can kill for your country at 18, but you can't have a beer afterwards until you turn 21.
