I love C++ personally. Although I'm starting to favor C#, pretty much every reason why I preferred C++ to Java is present in C#, and more. But C++ will always hold a special position, it was the first language I really learned (I learned some VB.Net before that, but nothing more than basic math(s) operations in button click event handlers, changing label text, and reading textbox text).

I work in a windoze shop. I use linux outside of work. At work I tend to use a lot of vb6 and c#. At home I tend to mix several languages when writing projects. I don't think you should hate any language. If a tool fits the job, you should be able to use that tool. In college, c++ was my main language.
If it moves, compile it
