I just added up all the money I've spend on the car. NOT counting the car itself, I'm less than $50 shy of $10K - so far.

When I first read the title of your post, I thought you had been electrocuted! Then I read your post. How much did the car itself cost?

Running is not a hobby, it is a chore :) I swore the day I left the Army that I would never run again, and so far I haven't. I used to run marathon distances, but usually in boots and 'Greens', so I was fit as elephant, but in the intervening years I have slothed my way to middle aged unfitness, and very happy I am too.

That shows how present-day attitudes arise from the choices we made and the places we found ourselves when we were younger. In my 20's I was a pack-and-a-half a day smoker and didn't exercise. I quit smoking when my wife was pregnant and started running at age 30. That was 20 years ago, 'and very happy I am too'.

If ever I go broke, I might take up golf. I have a 50* foot sailboat in the local marina. Mooring fees $4k p.a. Insurance $3k p.a. Annual haul-out + anti-fouling $2k p.a. General maintenance $2k p.a. Incidental costs (outboard petrol, water-maker filters etc. etc. ad infinitum) $1k p.a. This winter I flushed the diesel tanks, so they will have to be refilled - one thousand litres - about $2k nm.p.g under power = 2 I only mention this because I am just now recommissioning her for the summer season, and the bills are rolling in! X| * This is an exaggeration - she is actually only 49 feet 7 inches. :-\

Wait till you take up golf! £300 for a driver, £300 for a set of decet irons. £150 for a bag, then add in the balls, tees and towels. Of course the shoes aren't cheap, my Footjoys were £115. So maybe £1000 and you haven't stepped onto a golf course yet! Membership is £800 a year, plus £25 green fees per round. Then we go to other courses and that can be expensive. I played the Celtic Manor 2010 Championship course, and that is £75 for a round. On the other hand, as any other member who plays golf will tell you, you don't even notice the expense when you are listening to the ping of the driver as your ball sweeps away from you in a dead straight line and finishes 300 yards away. There is no feeling like sinking that 30ft putt for a birdie or pitch from 50 yards that ends up a foot from the hole.

The only reason to pay 300 for a driver is if your name's tiger woods or your a fool with too much cash and a small you know what. My clubs and buggy were less than half that second hand and a round costs about $30 at a suburban course.

If I wanted that car with these changes I would have to pay double but only if the importer was family. Otherwise double and a half. Perspective :)

You're being overcharged, good sir (or you like to play the Best Courses). With a membership fee like that there's no way you should be paying to play as well.

No, on my course I pay £10 Green Fee per game, but when I go to my Brother's club I have to pay the visitor's fee. Likewise when he comes to my club, it is reversed.

Understandable, it is after all a gentleman's game. I once played the public course at Broken Hill, the entire thing is made from fine dirt, not a blade of grass.
