RIP Carroll Shelby

The man knew how to build some fun ass cars. I'm not the biggest fan of Fords, but [^] Before any American car bashers can jump on this; the guy won the LeMans and built the Cobra on a British chassis.

Ford-powered machines soundly kicked Ferrari's ass at Le Mans in the mid-late 60's until Ferrari complained and had the rules changed to exclude the Mk IV GT-40's... Even among American car bashers, Carroll Shelby was afforded a lot of respect and admiration, and there is no doubt that his influence kept the Mustang alive.

I well remember dribbling over my copy of Car[^] when they tested the Cobra way, waaaay back when. RIP Carroll. :rose: <edit> I've just remembered the title of the testing article (Well, near as dammit) 0mph - 100mph - 0mph 14.7 seconds. </edit>
