Hi Jovan, We searched but unfortunately we weren't able to find anything. I am terribly sorry. Each new draft replaces the previous, and you should always be able to return back to it unless it is discarded or deleted. Could you please let me know the workflow of how you were returning to that article? It would be helpful info we could use to consider how we might tweak the system so that events like this never occur again. Currently, there isn't an entry in version history until the "Publish" button is hit. I recommend publishing an article while you're working on it in "Composing" status and keeping the article in that status while hitting "Publish" after each update you make until the article is ready to publish.

Thanks, Sean Ewington The Code Project

Hi Sean, I have edited it usual way and always keeping it as draft. It is a longer article so I have edited it few days in draft mode and I have left "Work in progress: don't publish" check box selected when I have saved draft version. Note that I have always pressed "Publish" button in Editor (even a preview few times), and later I have opened submission wizard for that article. When I have went back to the my article list I have always saw this article with the "This is an unfinished article" message in my list. Also when I have edited it again I have always saw the previous version. Everything was fine and I have several times saved the article and continued with writing later. In some point it was gone from the list of my articles (not even as a "unfinished" article) I have tried to find the URL in the browser history and when I have opened that URL I got an not found error. Also, when I try to open link that has been remembered in the history for submission wizard http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/SubmissionWizard.aspx?aid=390122[^] I get the following error: Problem: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Ticket: 5336586 Server: Web01 I hope that this helps. There is really a lot of text I have entered there so I would really appreciate if you could help me to restore at lease something. Thanks, Jovan

Thanks very much for that. Do you happen to know the ballpark of the last day (and more importantly, time) when you last hit the "Publish" button?

Thanks, Sean Ewington The Code Project

Hi Sean, I'm looking at my browser history logs it shows me when I have opened submission wizard page. I think that I have opened and saved changes 0.5-1 hour after I have opened submission wizard. The last time I see is 24/05/2012 5-7 PM GMT+1 (Belgrade). I see one previous opening on 24/05/2012 10:31 AM GMT+1 so I believe that I have updated in between 10:31 AM and 11:30 AM. On 23/05/2012 I have one activity between 5 PM and 6 PM GMT+1. I'm not sure exactly when I have pressed save but I hope that this could help. I'm not sure in what zone you are tracking times so I have placed times in my zone GMT+1 (Belgrade). Thanks, Jovan

Hi Jovan, That was remarkably specific, thank you. We used your information to dig a little deeper, but I am very sorry, we were not able to recover anything. We have made some changes to the system, however, that after the next update it will be unlikely this precise incident would happen again, even if by accident. Again, our apologies, I wish we could have recovered something.

Thanks, Sean Ewington The Code Project
