I just read a joke that really made me laugh. As somebody who loves jokes I normally do not care about how offending to whoever those jokes are... It's just a joke, right? So would it be ok to post a Osama Bin Laden joke that might offend arabic people, or would it completely wreck my reputation? What do you think?

If you think it's funny and can sand the fatwa then post away. Not doing something for fear of online reputation points is a very silly course of action.

Just what I needed to hear ;) You are totally right, fear is silly ;) I was more afraid about my personal reputation than the point related one ;)

Many of us here like offensive jokes, and take it in good fun if aimed toward us. Lots of people just won't upvote if they don't think it's funny, but understanding it's a joke will not downvote. You'll then have sensative people who will downvote, but overall it's not that many (if you're joke doesn't stink bad). If it's a decent joke, people will usually counter the 1 votes to help you out. Give it a shot, no harm in trying. One bad joke will not completely wreck your rep anyway.
