Life in a rural area has its own set of problems. I turned on the tap to get hot water (takes a minute), and a snake came out of the drain!:~ (about 18 inches long) The septic system is a good 100 plus feet away but it had to have come through the pipe. Now, I do NOT like snakes of any kind. Mainly because I cannot tell the different species. Well I corralled this one and tossed it in the creek behind the house. As I did this I noticed a three foot snake skin on the creek bed! I have seen one that is about three to four foot long and three inch in diameter. Well now if I can just get the raccoons out of the attic...

Jeepers creepers! Just kill and eat the damn thing if you don't like them. Sources of protein that literally make their own way to your kitchen, like delivery but fresher. Count yourself lucky. Sounds like a great sequel to "snakes on a plane" at any rate.

Maybe if you had put the snake in the attic?

I think that's because you never cooked it properly! Hot water alone is not enough, you have to add other ingredients, too. :)

Luckily (or not) I've never had that problem. I was always catching snakes when I was little, and I had the bite marks to prove it (nothing poisonous fortunately). Spiders too, most people I know are afraid of spiders, but I don't get why. Lived in a house full of men all ~20 and I was the only one who wasn't afraid to go in the shed because of the spiders. Drove them crazy too when I wouldn't kill the spiders, I'd just bring them outside and let them go. Maybe it's just because they all grew up in cities, and I grew up in rural areas...but no matter why it was fun to watch a bunch of "men" freak out over something so small.

Put a big enough snake up there and you won't! :)

I am pretty sure that raccoons will eat snakes.
