Is this a commonly used line everywhere? or it's yet another one from the Indian dictionary? For whatever requests that comes from the mates, they say a "Thanks in advance" at the last line. Is it really a global expression? :~

I'm from the Netherlands and I use it when I want to get something done from someone who would probably not do that :D "Can you do that for me? Thanks in advance!" They can't refuse after that :D

that is global. "hello friends" and "hello sir" as a starter is Indian.

It's often used here in our country. I also use it when I make a request or follow up to another team/department.

It's not commonly used here in the UK other than from those who insist on using vapid phrases such as "Run it up the flagpole to see who salutes" and "paradigm".

I am Indian, and would use "Thanks in Advance" when it is more like a request from my side, the person addressed to is from a different department, and is somewhat not officially obliged to answer you.

I have seen this from many people in the US.
