This thing from the ooole codeproject email this mornin was a great read, too... http://www.extremetech.com/computing/130552-intel-dismisses-x86-tax-sees-no-future-for-arm-or-any-of-its-competitors[^] I'm really lookin forward to the new hardware we'll see out in a year or so  And what our OSs/GUIs morph into... I kinda like the idea of android on the phone, windows on the tablet/laptop/desktop. And the idea of seeing apple bite the dust. Well, in the long run, I'll miss apple though... Just like i miss commodore... (But I don't miss the Tandys X| )

I like the idea, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. Then again, if things start going bad they don't have Jobs to save them again, so maybe I'm wrong.

I think I read somewhere that it will not use Active Directory, precluding it from use by enterprises that have bought into the "bring your own device" philosophy.

Yes, Mike, but in what calendrical system: Mayan ? Given the "not invented here" syndrome at play in the fields of Sauron of Redmond, perhaps today is: zero-day + x of IE release x.xx in the fifth hamadryad of the second parsec of Ballmer, in the waning gibbous moon of SilverLight ? Where "x" is an integer, but the algorithm that produces said integer cannot be discussed because of NDA agreements ? best, Bill

Well, yes, and where our jobs go, and where so many developers years of investment in WPF, SilverLight, WinForms, etc., go. best, Bill

My bucket goes down the same well as yours, we drink from the same subterranean aquifer ... our arrows of time fly in the direction ... and yet ... best, Bill
