I'm looking for something to help me make and manage todo lists, project task lists etc. A very nice to have is it's able to subdivide tasks very easily - a mind-mapping centric approach is useful here - and I would like to use it together with the Pomodoro Technique. I find only Pomodoro Crate[^] suitable for my casual, agile development, but it's not perfect, and it's online, and my connection sucks. I can't tolerate tearing through work and then having to wait and reload a freaking page to tick of tasks. Tomighty[^] is a lovey, simple little timer only that I can use together with something else. I have Outlook, but I don't it doing much in the way of subtasks and hierarchies.

I don't know about the Pomodoro stuff, but have you looked at ToDoList? ToDoList 6.5 Beta 5 - An effective and flexible way to keep on top of your tasks[^]

I've actually used ToDoList before, and have it in mind. I just forgot to mention it in my OP. It would work great as a tick off list combined with a plain timer. Just checking out the field.

+1 for ToDoList. I use it extensively on a large number of tasks. For keeping track of how much time you spend on what tasks (is that what you want the timer for?), Grindstone [^] works pretty well. It's free, though not open source. Not very good at hierarchies of tasks though. I time only at the highest levels of my to-do list, so it works for me.
