I am so angry right now

I started Monday morning with a big cheer but this news made me so angry that i cant even explain. A 5 year old died because of someones carelessness. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/gurgaon-tragedy-5yearold-mahi-declared-dead/267641-3.html[^] 1. Some careless bugger left the dig unattended. 2. the rescue operation was a total piece of sh*t and it was a mere formality by officials to show that they are doing something. 3. These kind of incidents happen a lot and people blame the victims of their carelessness. 4. Where is the Elephanting sense of responsibility in the people of this country. 5. Sometimes looking around make me regret being born in this god forsaken country where we are surrounded by all careless, irresponsible, making-culture-an-excuse-for everything kind of hypocrites.

While I agree with everything else (including sometimes regretting being born in this Godforsaken place), I think the rescue team may have tried their levels best. There was hard rock formation in their drilling path, and they simply were not able to get through that quickly. They don't have state of the art equipment, and/or skilled labour that may be needed for this kind of an operation. It may really not be the rescue team's fault.

Nothing has been taken personally. :) I stated that those officials who tried to rescue the kid can't be put to blame; our lives could have been much better if not for the corrupt politicians.

Ineptitude unfortunately comes in many forms. I'm not trying to minimise the tragic loss of that child but our BBC news ran a story of a kitten that got stuck in a tree. The local fire service was called but for some reason did not or said they would not attend to help with the rescue. A young lad climbed the 60ft tree to rescue the cat, putting his own life at risk while the fire service stayed put, no doubt tucking into bacon sandwiches and tea at the station.

Here in the UK, funding it possibly better accounted for. Like all countries, mismanagement is widespread. Again, our regional BBC news discussed a small bridge being readied for construction. The original estimate was £6m but is expected to cost closer to £10m by the time it's delivered. The council say it still represents value for money. Why they couldn't do that for £6m is another question. The Olympics draw near. The original cost was something like £1.7bn but the actual cost is closer to something like £7.4bn although nobody is splitting hairs over a few £100m or so. The delivery authority recently told us they'd saved us £430m on the final bill. That sounds really good until you put it in the perspective of being billions overspent in the first place. I believe India had similar problems with mismanagement and corruption when they hosted the Commonwealth Games not long ago? It's a universal problem unfortunately.

I am not talking about the guys present their doing their work. I am talking big picture. if they would have some state of the art equipment something better could have been done. Why didn't they had better equipment because someone was not doing their job properly otherwise he would have analyzed the probable situations and have bought the proper stuff(if we can put a bore that deep we can have something to go that deep for rescue too).

All of us. including me. I see almost 7 gutter manholes open daily on my way home and do nothing. is it my carelessness YES. I hate myself for that too. but why are we like that? partly because we were told do mind our own business all our lives and partly because even if we want to do something we don't have proper avenues and/or people to listen to us. I tried asking electricity board to take care of a tree because it was leaning on a high tension wire. output: I was humiliated publically. Will i do it again - Perhaps, but i will think twice and remember this incidence before doing anything. P.S. no offense to anyone but I am sure you would agree that there is some amount of truth in my statements.

I am angry with your 2nd Point , The Rescue Operation was not a Piece of Sh*t I guess. They tried there best to save the child.

Probably a lot of truth. As you say, we are all responsible in some way for things like this. I know that in the UK most people are very good at moaning to their friends about things that are wrong, but not very good at taking positive action to try and get them fixed.
