      I wonder what 19th Century exercise was like? I bet just everyday life would be a workout for half of us. There probably was no need to get more exercise than daily chores.

        My only exercise is exercising the restraint not to kill stupid people, even if they really, really deserve it.

            Depends what family you were born into. If it was rich, then you got little more exercise than lifting your own wine glass. And one of the staff would do that for you if you instructed them to. If it wasn't, then 12-16 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, of hard physical effort was the norm.
