You do realise that the whole thing was based on a flawed model. All very well until the evidence comes along. This evidence shows that there is no sea level rises, that Antarctic ice is actually increasing, that taken over a long time frame all these 'perceived' changes are actually cyclical and predictable and that we are, at present, coming out of one of the coldest periods since the last Ice Age. Our main problem is not global warming, but global drought. There are too many people reliant on single source water supplies. Wait until the Indians run out of water, or the Chinese over dam the Yangtze for hydroelectric power etc.

Yeah, we really felt the effects of that global drought here in the UK in June. ;)

Reference for this would be required, have you seen the size of the shelf that broke off a couple of years ago! I've been to Rajesthan, the only difference between that and the Simpson desert is that Rajesthan has people, billions of people. 3 Gorges dam has already done that I beleive

Point Taken! But there is only so much fresh water and an ever increasing world population. Still, nature has a way of dealing with it.

I think the clue is in the phrase 'global drought' as opposed to 'tiny bit of the world you live in drought' :-D

There is more than enough fresh water, it is just not necessarily where the people are. My wife's uncle is an engineer who for a long time now has been employed getting water to people in the Middle East. He is a very wealthy man.

Why should the Chinese damn the Yangtze? Edit: Like this? 'May you flow in interesting beds, Yangtze!'

I believe climate change is happening and I believe it is bad but these people[^] are really not helping their cause. They start off but predicting 0.38 of a metre rise in 100 years. Then they end by describing the disasters that will manifest when the sea rises by 0.50 of a metre. So this will be a problem some time LATE NEXT CENTURY. No wonder there are so many people that think this is not a problem!

Maybe by 2090, the Australians will finally have learned that those 1-meter-high "water speed-bumps" they have are not "dykes".

Not that we are supposed to discuss GW on CP, but basically, the models are so immature they had no hope of predicting the future; they dont even model clouds.

Apparently they are modelling clouds for the Olympic opening ceremony though... only in the UK, following the wettest June since records began, would they do this... absolutely bonkers! ;P
