I was once told that I was too extrovert to work with computers. This was at a large bank many, many centuries ago when I was very young and I did not pursue IT as a career for quite some time because of it. However, I did pursue other interests and feel I have a more developed view of the world and business having had more than 1 career.

I know a man who was fired from working in an accountants because of his incompetence. He started working in a friends electronics shop, sorted out some supply jobs and helped in design requirements. He ended up as the Chief Project Director for McDonald Humphrey, till he retired a millionaire. He still works for them on the design side, but on a consultancy basis. He is still in his early 50's and doesn't give a toss about his first failure!

In the late 80s I got fired as a salesman (of computers), the sales manager told me I was bloody useless as a salesman and should get a job playing with the software, I have never looked back since!

I told that to my maid and to cook once. They now do the same work at a different house and earn more money.

So you're either successful or an accountant? Sounds about right.
