This is a general interest question. It involves nothing whatsoever associated with achieving anything in the practise of programming. People that use third party grid components in your web development: What is your favourite grid, or grid of choice?

My current pick is jQuery templates getting data from a webservice.

Telerik are pretty good too. Not super fast grids, but rich features with good out of the box AJAX support.

Yeah... Slow and not always x browser... I used it for everything before, now just for "small" grids... Now, I'm back to old school tables 100% built by me... lol

I use mostly MVC Contrib Grid, which gives me full control over a very simple HTML table. When needed, I also use jQuery DataTables.

Usually initially render basic html table with asp:Repeater (no ViewState), then always DataTables.js on client.

jQuery plugin - http://www.datatables.net/[^] you can use it with either retrieving data via web service or the asp:repeater. http://www.w3schools.com/aspnet/aspnet_repeater.asp[^] I am not sure if there is an article that discusses the last approach but if there isn't maybe I can put one together over the weekend quickly. I prefer the client approach as much as possible because data rendering data on the server has cost implications.

as if the facebook, twitter and message boards weren't enough - blogged
