Actually I meant that without a proper power supply both a Graphic Card AND the CPU are in danger of just going wrong.

Fair enough! You call it "sucked". The internet calls that "El Cheapo". Was shocked to discover that recently. After 4 years. :-D :-D

I usually buy sub-$100 video cards - of course I don't play PC games at all. So I've never had a problem with my PS not being good enough.

Yeah. It still matters a little when you upgrade a CPU though. Not much I guess. Here's hoping there's a new trend: Lord Nish makes PC games play at full graphics without a graphic card.

Looks like after 4 years my 8800GT has decided to stop working when I thought about at least a good 3 more years. I've looked at GTX 580 to be...a "worthy" replacement for another 6 years or more. Would like suggestions as to what kind of PSU you guys recommend. I'm looking at probably a Corsair 600W or a 800W.

Hi i wouldnt get a 580 tbh rather get a factory oc'ed 670 youll basically get the same performance as a stock 680, and its new tech. also the 670 should use less power and run cooler than a 580.

When in doubt, go overboard! That's what I did...wasn't sure what I needed, so I bought a 1000W  (Although, I'm probably close to justifying it by now with everything I've added since.)

Even a 700W PSU wasn't enough? :( You're right about the voltage rails. I'm looking for a good PSU with suggestions on that. Which PSU you have?
