Most underrated movie?

Well, it's a film that Critics say is great, but nobody went to see. So maybe not underrated by critics, but if you ask a random selection of people about the film, most of them won't have heard of it at all -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

It has over 11,801 votes and it's only been out just over a year (3 months in the UK). By contrast, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil has been out a little over 5 years and televised all over the world but only has 5,447 votes. So somebody has been watching Donnie Darko :-D. Well, I don't know whether about underrated, but my favourite movie is "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra. Max Von Sydow and Cuba Gooding are brilliant in it too. :) It's probably not one for the guys though - it has me weeping every time I watch it! Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

I think it asks too many questions about who the good guy is for most people; or maybe it's just one of these "all been done before" situations, ignoring the fact that this does it just as well if not better. That was the problem with Stir of Echoes too, coming as it did just behind Sixth Sense and having a similar feel. Totally different feel but people can't help comparing them. Not all chick-flicks are bad... City of Angels was cool and had absolutely everything going against it: the plot, Meg Ryan, a TV director. Can't say it had me weeping, I'm not easy to bring to tears when I watch a movie. Problem is that I'm too logical, I get engrossed but some part of me deep down can't help realising that it's only fiction. But, there's a *lot* in the book that wasn't in the movie, and the story is far less linear and far more interesting (IMHO), so i'd say go for it - if you can read the first chapter or two without getting bored, you'll enjoy the whole thing. :)
