Since I've been doing this crap since IBM DOS 1.1 was out, I got to experience Windows 1.0. I also remember playing around with IBM's TopView, and, of course, an Apple Lisa. Holy shit, I'm old!

Didja ever play around with the GEM interface? It was kinda cool... in an early 80's sort of way.

If I also remember all of those, does it make me old too? I kinda like not remembering if I'm old or not :)

I'm sure I remember playing around with Windows 1 or 2 but not sure - probably an invented memory; definitely used OS2 and Windows 3.

Gem I wrote a program in pascal that served as a DOS program launcher - I called it Radius. I was on the verge (days away from signing the papers) of selling it to a software manufacturer, and when Windows came out, and I gave the other party a chance to back out of the deal because I thought Windows was a better idea. They did, of course, and I remained a poor white child.

Windows 386/2.1. Word required it. Where I worked at the time, we got into the Windows 3.0 beta program and received a beta copy three weeks before 3.0 was released. (Days after we received the beta discs, we received the 3.0 disks with a stern reminder of the NDA we'd signed.)

I completely forgot about GEM! I also remember GEOS when it was ported to PC's. Oh man, the memories of the industry trying different things, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Who did things better than the other guy. Those were the days!

Windows/286 (2.1x) was the first. Windows 2000 was the first that actually worked.

Definitely 1.0; also had the original Lisa's serial numbers 1 and 2, the first Novell Token Ring network ever installed and lots of other cool stuff including an original HP PARC? system with several workstations and printers - the real original windows system. Both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates came by to see this installation. How did this happen? Well, I worked at a research facility.

Mine was Windows 3.0? The best was Windows NT 4.0 or 3.51+Shell.

Microsoft Windows 1.0 around 1986, quickly followed by 2.1. The first one I ever programmed in was 2.11 (1989) X Windows 5 around 1990.
