I pick up the car Friday; it is agreed she'll be ready by 4pm. I have booked a crossing on the tunnel for 7pm. It should take around 1 1/2 hour to get from here to the tunnel. Friday is the last day of the school year. How busy are the roads going to be? On a scale of 1 to 10, it'll be in the eights. The scale is logarithmic.

Start with a zero, and add as necessary from the table below: 1) It's a Friday. Add 5. 2) You are in the south of England. Add 3. 3) You are using the M25. Add 25. If the result is greater than 10 multiple the number of miles you wish to travel by the number divided by 4. If it is less than 10, multiply the number of miles by 2, and add the value you generated above multiplied by 3. This is the minutes the journey will take, approximately.

First time I used the tunnel with a car I met a bloke there who used it very regularly, and he was in his car. In his glove box he had all the different lettered things to hang on your rear mirror saying which train your on, looked at mine, got out the same letter, and hung it up so he could get on the same train as me.

90*33/4 = 742 I think 2.5 hours to cover 90 miles should be enough I can always go cross country rather than trying to find somewhere to park on the M25. If I run late they'll put us on the next free space. We're staying with a friend in Brussels on Friday night and then it's the simple task of driving 1350km on Saturday. We'll be home in time for tiffin. :-D

You don't even need that. Most times you can go through at pretty much any time you like. 4am when it's snowing a blizzard and there are 4 cars waiting in the whole elephant car park, then the sunshines hold you back.

No such problem. Mine started its life as a 1964 MB-B, 1600 twin-carb A-Series straight four engine. The body, an NG-TA is based on a 1932 Aston Martin International. The gear-stick is on the floor and there is only one door on the passenger side. The driver climbs in or has to get in before the passenger which dear Mrs Wife loves on the few occasions we take the car out in the rain. Everything is old fashioned and it just works; I occasionally have had to replace a few of the electrical bits but the engine is sound; I just did the condenser, points and rotor arm which the under-40's have no idea about. Oh and the handbrake is outside. :-D

If the car could cruise all day at 80-90mph, I wouldn't bother with anything else.

You should come to South Dakota. I would always put my car on cruise-control from McCook Lake to Sioux Falls (about 85 miles) and get there in about 70 minutes.
