Wow! How did a college student afford the postage for that? I usually order mine 'will call' then rent a truck to pick up my ammo.

So what? No system, however intrusive it may be, can detect an incipient madman. Such people are, by definition, unpredictable, and no shop clerk - nor any government official - can possibly predict that 'this' customer will snap and do something appalling with the bullets. Mass shootings, like train wrecks and highway pileups, make great news, but rarely lead to smart policy decisions. One thing that should be noted is that purchases of ammunition are reported, and supposedly "someone" has the job of looking for patterns in purchases, such as stockpiling bullets. If not, there is no good reason to report that information. Obviously, that "someone" missed a key clue, and a lot of people were killed or injured because of that failure. This is a horrific tragedy, and though there are systems in place to prevent such an event by detecting it early, those systems failed. Maybe we should let CDP's orc army program look at the purchase reports, instead of using people for the job; I bet they would have detected a threat!

Your link is broken. Beyond that, what's your point? You have to ask yourself why an otherwise normal person would suddenly decide to shoot up a movie theater. What specifically was the catalyst? Some are claiming the government is somehow involved, but there's no evidence to support it other than a warning issued by the FBI in April or May about possible "Mumbai-style" terror threats against movie theaters that was unpublished less than two hours after being issued.

Don't for a second think they don't track that kind of info. They probably have a rather large file on me, but I haven't yet noticed any mysterious black SUVs following me around (and believe me - I pay attention to that kind of thing).

I find it interesting that the theater has a "strict no firearms policy", disallowing firearms to be carried even by those licensed for concealed carry, yet the gunman obviously didn't care about those rules, while law-abiding citizens DO, and were not carrying as a result. How many lives would have been saved if even one person had been carrying their weapon? Looks like those gun-free zones work real well...
