That sounds like an awesome move. Who is 'they' ? Sounds like our Federal government is doing the opposite, bending over for these ignorant clowns.

"They" are the NSW Doctors' association (don't recall their exact moniker) - there was an article in the Sunday papers about just this. I still remember kids with callipers from polio when I was a young fella, these hippie f-wits don't know how good we have got it.

Yes, their kids benefit from herd immunity, otherwise they would have no doubt how much they need vaccination. having just read 'the geek manifesto', the first question I think of is, how do I express support for their position ? Is there someone I can write to ? Politicians will support the doctors, if they see the community wants them to.

You could try writing to the Australian Medical Association[^] for a start. I will look up the article when I get home - may be more info than I can remember.

So, our government gives a financial incentive to parents to vaccinate kids, because of the loonies who think vaccinations cause autism, etc. Now it seems that these same loonies are saying they are being discriminated against, so they get the same payment, which would not exist without them, if they register their 'objection' to the idea of vaccination. Insane.... I wrote to the Australian group who spreads these lies and misinformation. I admit I was a little abusive, but I am still surprised they did not respond. ( FWIW, a week later, they never replied, I am thinking of writing to the homeopaths next ).

ROTFL - brilliant. A friend recently told me that homeopathic medicine must work because it had side effects for her ( it was sleep medication, she said it made her wired ). She was upset when I told her they'd sold her water and they dilute it well past it being possible for even the original WATER to be in the mix.

Yeah. Very good. Award parents for introducing potential health risks to their kids' life. Is there democracy in Australia? If yes, then aren't you disappointed by yourself for letting these idiots run the country?

There's no non idiots on offer, especially on issues like this, where the lunatic fringe is most vocal and therefore most pandered to.

This is really bad. Government should rather make it illegal to skip any vaccination that is known to be good for body and has been in use rather long time. Does any of the lunatics have any solid proof that these vaccines are bad?

In that case, govt. can and should make vaccination a legal obligation for parents. If anyone feels that they are harmful, file a case against govt. and back it up with proper proof.

How about you trying to convince those against it? You could do that at least in your social circle* if it has people thinking against it. I have had all the vaccinations that were applicable when I was a kid. I must say, I am normal. Nothing weird happened to me. *If you have one. You do know you are a geek, right?

Not only have there been studies to confirm that autism is a possible side-effect but I have seen it first hand. A young healthy normal girl that we have known for years became autistic after getting immunizations one year. Why do you think they are completely safe? What evidence do you have?

This is really bad. Government should rather make it illegal to skip any vaccination that is known to be good for body and has been in use rather long time. Does any of the lunatics have any solid proof that these vaccines are bad?

I don't know about the "lunatics" having proof or not but I personally know a young girl who became autistic after getting immunizations. What makes anyone think there is any chemical drug that has no side effects?

Not only have there been studies to confirm that autism is a possible side-effect but I have seen it first hand. A young healthy normal girl that we have known for years became autistic after getting immunizations one year. Why do you think they are completely safe? What evidence do you have?

I don't think anyone claims they are perfectly safe. They all have side effects including death for some of the vaccines. However, they are much much safer than the diseases they protect us against, and everyone involved works to make them safer.

I want it noted that I saw this quote and walked away, not a sarcastic remark escaped my lips keyboard.
