From what little I was able to watch, I think that our cousins did a pretty good job.
Why is common sense not common? Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level where they are an expert. Sometimes it takes a lot of work to be lazy Please stand in front of my pistol, smile and wait for the flash - JSOP 2012

I thought it was excellent. I loved the opening sequence that featured the industrial revolution and the way those smokestacks rose from the ground. There were some naff bits here and there. The tribute to the NHS was sincere but it went on a tad too long. The use of the pixel displays used for lighting effects behind the seats was really well done. The copper petals used to assemble the flame were simply brilliant. There were a lot of nice touches throughout the whole ceremony. The queen, however, looked quite bored with it all or perhaps that was just her deadpan expression. The saddest part was Muhammad Ali's appearance. He looked quite out of it so I can only guess if he knew what was going on. So sad to see such a sporting great in that condition but what a delight to see him there all the same. The lighting of the flame took everyone by surprise I think. Sebastien Coe's speech at the end was full of corn and cheesy phrasing but under the condition I'd not have expected much else. I thoroughly enjoyed it and London gets 98/100 from me.

I thought it was mostly a little dull and disjointed. Very clever, but lacking in any wow for me personally. The torch was extremely well done though, and the calderon was stunning. They need to stop wheeling Ali out, there was no sign of the man he used to be. And Macca got panned at the end, although I turned off when his old woman's face appeared on the screen. Did enjoy the tribute to Jimmy Saville with the Team GB clothes. It was a definite success in this country though.

I thought it was excellent; well put together and not overloaded with special effects.
One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

Yes indeed. I kind of thought that we would be taking a trip to Mordor during the Industrial Revolution part. I liked what they did with the rings. Unfortunately I did not get to see much more than that. Bits of the Daniel Craig part and the Queen's entrance and Beckham driving that boat up the river.
