watching live http://www.nasa.gov/externalflash/mars/curiosity_news3.html[^] Congratulations to all the team. Can't wait to see the first images. :) Edit: Thought I'd add this: First picture from the lander. http://twitter.com/MarsCuriosity/status/232351189826678785/photo/1/large[^] Not much to look at, but it's still amazing when you think of where it has come from. Edit 2: Here is one from the other side, ohh look, it's my shadow.. http://twitter.com/MarsCuriosity/status/232352290919567361/photo/1/large[^]

An amazing achievement. I was watching the celebrations from mission control as the first image was displayed and they jubilation was something I don't think I'll ever get to experience writing trading software

Dang, I missed it. But it was a hard choice; watch the show, or soak in the jacuzzi at my hotel in Phoenix with a large sippy cup of scotch, watching a show of lightning in the night sky. Hmmm... it all works out. :)

Another engineering masterpiece. Lowering down a car from a rocket propelled crane is pretty cool.
